At the Plaça de Toros Monumental de Barcelona, the now disused historic bullfighting ring in downtown Barcelona, they run a very modest museum, trying to keep the spirit of this now banned (in Catalonia, at least) sport alive. We were the first customers to show up this morning, and the custodian opened the exhibits for us and even gave us a private tour, explaining us everything in Catalan. Let's say we got the jist of his message - he's a 3rd (or so) generation torreador who knows nothing but bullfighting and the business around it. He was intensely prooud of his heritage and that came through loud & clear despite our linguistic differences.
