Clear Scans Edition
Ottawa, October 8, 2021.
Back on February 26 of this year, I took a photowalk after having gone for a biopsy earlier in the day that ultimately revealed I had cancer (SLL/small lymphocytic lymphoma). Honestly, I don't remember much about that walk—my mind was elsewhere. But I *needed* that walk to clear my mind and stay sane.
Fast-forward 7½ months, and I just took another photowalk after having left the hospital. This time, it was after a great meeting with my haematologist who reported back that the 6 sessions of chemotherapy I endured throughout the spring & summer did the trick: the lymphoma is in remission and my CT scans were as clear as can be expected for an incurable yet manageable cancer.
This time around I also needed to clear my mind with another photowalk. But the temperature and mood were certainly better!
I chose to take a walk in the pathways and the "Rideau Gardens" neighbourhood along the Rideau River, only about 1.5km from the hospital.
The glorious Indian summer blue skies were certainly fitting this time around.
